They had an ageing Siemens iSDX with an Avaya INDex connected to provide the customer services and parts departments with call centre functionality. The Avaya was a potential point of failure due to being announced as 'end of life' and any failure could have brought a multi-million pound business to it knees. Having considered all the leading brands available they chose a Splicecom Maximiser provided by Adodo to initially replace the INDex.
A 'rolling' programme is in place to replace the Siemens in a phased rollout.
"Having considered so many different systems over a long period of time we discovered that the devil was in the detail. We installed the Peak Suite software specifically to provide real-time call information. That sort of information is key to our business. It was also important that the solution integrated cleanly with the iSDX, had a clear development path and the maintainers were easy to do business with." Neal Denham, IT Manager
"The change over was well prepared and took just a few hours. Adodo not only deliver the solution but challenge the way we do things by asking relevant questions and listening. During our relationship they have also helped us make savings on both our fixed lines and mobile costs."
A Splicecom maximiser 4100 phone system was connected to the Siemens iSDX using DPNSS. This allows the users on the maximiser system to seamlessly connect with all the other users on the iSDX system. ISDN30 trunks are currently being used but as the licences are universal Fosters will be able to seamlessly move to SIP trunks when they are ready. This will provide them with additional disaster recovery options.
The Peak Suite software provides Fosters with real-time information on calls into the various departments. There are also various recording options. Alerts are used by the supervisor to monitor key performance indicators.
GBJ Investments operate a furniture and gift store with many of the goods being imported from India as they have a manufacturing arm situated there. Over the past few years their business model has changed and the majority of their business is now done online. In light of this change and the global downturn in the economy they decide to move all their operations back to India.
They had been one of the very first clients of Adodo to purchase a Splicecom Maximiser in 2003 and were still using a 4100 series Call Server with a mixture of analogue phones and PCS400 touchscreen handsets. When they haad moved to different premises within Nottingham in 2009 they had upgraded the software to enable the use of SIP trunks even though SIP trunks had not been around when they first bought the system.
On enquiring about their move to India they were surprised to find that to use the system in India they simply had to install broadband and the maximiser would just 'plug and play'. Furthermore, as they were using SIP with Nottingham numbers all calls from the UK would be treated as if they were still in the UK, therefore a seamless transition.
"In 2003 it was a difficult decision to go with a brand new name in the telephone world but Adodo assured us it was the correct decision and, more importantly, promised us that whatever new features came along we would entitled to them, free of charge, as long as we were under a maintenance contract. 8 years on it's like the system is brand new as we are on the latest version of software with all the developments over the last 8 years thrown in.
They really have kept their promise." Atul Joshi, Managing Director
"Over the period it's been a joy to work with the team at Adodo. Flexibility has been the key for us. Whether it's dealing with our lines, creating our music on hold or just making changes they take ownership. If there is a problem they sort it no matter who caused it."
A Splicecom maximiser 4100 phone system originally configured with ISDN30. The original 4100 Call Server has now been upgraded to the latest version of software and the ISDN trunks have been replaced with SIP trunks at no extra charge as the trunk licences are universal.
Having been moved once already it is now connected to a broadband circuit in India.
"Now that's what we mean by value for money and a real return on investment" said Tim Glynn, Managing Director, Adodo
"The flexibility the organisation now has is amazing, and we've only just scratched the surface"

NBV were established in 1982. They have since helped over 60,000 potential business start-up clients throughout the East Midlands.
NBV is committed to the principles of the Customer First Standard and is IIP and ISO accredited. NBV has a committed team of SFEDI accredited advisers and trainers and are committed to encouraging the formation and growth of small businesses in England.
The phone system at Mercury House was provided as a managed service from Siemens ASP Division. It provided only very basic telephony features whilst also offering voicemail and call forwarding for the tenants. The system at Enterprise House was a Meridian Norstar with no link between the two.
The data services were provided by means of a single file and print server. There was no control over the distribution to ensure fair and optimum usage, and no remote access capabilities for tenants.
Given that the services offered by NBV would be the lifeblood of many smaller companies and clients it was essential that wherever possible all aspects of the solution were built with continued service and robustness in mind.
We wanted a company that could look after all our needs. In addition we were looking for a 'partner' that would keep us ahead with new ideas.
"The flexibility the organisation now has is amazing and we've only scratched the surface." Phil Moore, IT Manager
A Splicecom maximiser phone system was installed to replace all the different systems at each site and then connected to form one seamless system. With its rich feature set it was important to focus on the real needs that would provide significant improvements in the way calls were handled. This included the ability to provide 'virtual' services to tenants. With two callservers within the network there is resilience and disaster recovery built in.
The system can scale seamlessly, and has done, providing a fully networked communications system, allowing voice, data and web-enabled IT resources to share the same underlying network and information. With geographic boundaries no-longer posing limits, the system provides the flexibility to construct a single, unified business telephony solution of up to 10,000 extensions, across multiple offices, whilst also allowing those working from home and mobile employees access to the same facilities as their office based colleagues.
By allowing individual services to be offered to tenants in a mix and match format the centre can create a flexible charging policy. The data solution allows for many different types of services in such areas as broadband, e-mail, web hosting, file and print access and wireless hotspot access.
After six years the system is like new because all software upgrades are included in the annual support and maintenance contract.
The Omega Women's Centre is a new multi-agency initiative of the Rochdale Interagency Domestic Violence Forum which is a registered charity. The Omega Women's Centre provide a range of services from different agencies all based under one roof to ensure you receive the best service possible within the Borough of Rochdale
To save costs on their BT services.
They were introduced as consultants that could help save us money.
"It is not very often that you can save 75% of your costs without doing anything but signing on the dotted line. All this was done at no charge and we are still with BT – what a service" Steve Charlesworth, Charity adviser
Like so many other organisations the Omega Women's Centre had been using BT for years. However, their tariff did not match their call profile, consequently they were paying far too much. After a full analysis a simple change of tariff was sufficient to make massive savings.
All they had to do was give Adodo consent to negotiate with BT after analysing their BT bills.
Stonebridge City Farm is a small slice of the countryside in the heart of the City of Nottingham! Free to visit and open every day, they have a number of animals both big and small; gardens and polytunnels where they grow fruit, vegetables and herbs, and even produce honey; a nature walk where you can see a number of wild birds and butterflies; and amenities such as the cafe, shop and toilets.
The farm was set up in the late 1970s, and has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Its ideals include providing a much-needed green space, sustainable buildings, distinctive local identity and people who care and respect the community. The site is accessible to all - families with young children, people with disabilities, and parties from schools and colleges. You can just go for a while, perhaps to feed and pet some of the animals, or they do courses and special events for bee keepers and people interested in horticulture.
As a social enterprise they are a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
As with all businesses, they compete to deliver goods and services but in many instances lack essential business resources.
"Adodo were introduced to us through Nottingham City Council as a 'pilot' scheme. We didn't know what to expect but have been delighted with their contribution to our organisation." Marie Rogers, Project Manager
"Through their Social Enterprise Communication package we have initially analysed our telecommunication charges and now look to make savings of 44% over the next year. We are now analysing our data natwork and the way we manage these resources. Our website has been re-designed and Adodo are now hosting the site free of charge. They are an enthusiastic team and add real value to our organisation."
The Communication package is a ‘pick n mix’ opportunity for social enterprises and sme's. Stonebridge City Farm having had their calls & lines analysed found that they were paying for things they didn't use and also being charged high rates.
They have also had several hours of management advisory time pro bono and looking to now take that advise to the next level.
Many changes have been implemented in the last few months and the organisation is in a much stronger position due to the strong leadership shown by it's management.
Sincil School in Lincolnshire, is a purpose built co-educational day school, educating children with social, emotional and behavioural problems from the age of 11 to 16. It aims to provide a safe, caring stimulating environment through which relevant and meaningful learning can take place. The curriculum at Sincil ensures that all National Curriculum areas are taught but suitably differentiated so pupils experience success.
Whilst the schools existing phone system was not old it was basic, however, to introduce a new system they would need to reuse as much of the existing infrastructure as possible. Top of their requirements list was a note taking capability on calls as well as the ability to record all calls. Multiple out of hours messaging facility was also requested.
In changing the phone system we were able to integrate the note taking and recording feature simply and with very little administration. All key staff are able to access the information.
"The note taking and call recording is a major boost to child protection on many levels. It has also cut down on paperwork as we retain a copy of the verbal permissions." Chris Armond, Deputy Head
A Splicecom maximiser phone system replaced the schools Meridian system. With its rich feature set it was important to focus on the real needs that would provide significant improvements in the way calls were handled. By providing call recording as an integrated application within the Splicecom maximiser, users have access to a sophisticated, flexible and easy to use solution, yet one that is considerably more cost-effective and efficient than can be delivered by bolting-on expensive 3rd Party recorders. Peak Suite integrates seamlessly with the maximiser database and adds a copy of the recording to the call record, thus allowing it to be easily retrieved. Similarly, the notes are added through the personal productivity application and stored against the callers unified directory.
Child protection is paramount to the school and by introducing this new system all stakeholders within the system are able to work together effectively when communicating by phone.
A protocol that is optimised for the transmission of voice through the Internet or other packet switched networks, and is now considered part of the backbone of every day telecommunications.
These lines allow a pure IP connection to be formed between enterprises and telephone carriers and make it possible for businesses to make and receive calls over broadband circuits or other data connections.
One of the oldest Local Area Networks technologies which has been highly successful and is still popular.
Devices that provide mobile broadband include: PC cards also known as a PC data card or Connect cards, USB modems, USB sticks often called "dongles", phones with data modems and portable devices with built-in support for Mobile Broadband (like notebooks and Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs)). Notebooks with built-in Mobile Broadband Modules are offered by all leading laptop manufacturers in Europe and Asia.
Call recording (regulatory/ad hoc)
Providing fully integrated Call Recording as a standard feature is one of maximiser's many strengths. Utilised for training purposes, to meet regulatory requirements or simply to keep a record of telephone conversations and transactions, maximiser's Call Recording capabilities are totally independent of the trunk type that the call is delivered over. There's no requirement for different interface cards to handle recording over SIP, PRI, BRI, DPNSS or H.323 trunks, because it's all handled within the central architecture, which can be centralised or distributed across multiple sites. Likewise, Call Recording is delivered independently of handset type; IP, analogue or GSM/3G mobile.
If required you can have full AES encryption and archiving. The additional management software provides for easy retrieval and play-back of the recordings, broken down to each leg of the call, and as music on hold is not recorded there is no wasted recording time and space.
Refers to a trend to offer integrated business processes, i.e. to simplify and integrate all forms of communications in view to optimise business processes and reduce the response time, manage workflows, and eliminate device and media dependencies. Commonly known as UC, it allows an individual to send a message on one medium and receive the same communication on another medium. For example, one can receive a voicemail message and choose to access it through e-mail or on a mobile phone. If, according to the presence information, the sender is online and currently accepts calls, the response can be sent immediately through text chat or video call. Otherwise, it may be sent as a message that can be accessed through a variety of media as and when available.
A smartphone is a mobile phone that offers more advanced computing ability and connectivity than a standard feature phone. Smartphones and feature phones may be thought of as handheld computers integrated within a mobile telephone, but while most feature phones are able to run applications based on platforms such as Java ME or BREW, a smartphone allows the user to install and run more advanced applications based on a specific platform. Smartphones run complete operating system software providing a platform for application developers.
Growth in demand for advanced mobile devices boasting powerful processors, abundant memory, larger screens and open operating systems has outpaced the rest of the mobile phone market for several years.
Disaster prevention and recovery is a coordinated (and documented) activity to install measures to facilitate a business's continued operation during a natural or man-made disaster or, if that operation is interrupted, to facilitate a restoration of normal operation with minimum loss. It includes planning for off-site backups, redundant hardware at alternate locations, and a clear process for protecting and restoring critical information. Disaster planning is also called Contingency Planning or Business Continuity Planning and is used largely to refer to preventing data loss and recovering critical data. It overlaps with risk management.
Hot desking allows users to log in at another phone, wherever they are on the network. However, unlike using Follow Me or Forwarding which simply redirects a user's calls to another users phone, hot desking takes total control of another phone. Until they log out the functionality at that phone is their normal profile with all calls and voicemails being routed automatically.
Virtually anything that used to be an office job and uses computers and telecoms can be done remotely for at least part of the week. Not only do home workers reduce the need for expensive premises, they are often vastly more productive. BT claims it gets an average of 20% more work out of its 10,000.
If you need to speak to more than one person at a time there are different ways of doing it. 3-way conference calls can be set-up easily on the fly using the phone or your phone partner software.
Alternatively Meet-Me-Conferencing allows many more participants to dial-in and enter a PIN code to join a conference. Listen-only and full participation rights can be granted.
For companies wanting video conferencing this can be delivered to the desktop.
A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event or product" For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted.
Hosted Telephony: one of the growing areas in telecoms is IP telephony that allows your voice and data traffic to use the same IP network facilitating Unified Communications, greatly enhancing efficiency, optimising infrastructure costs and simplifying the network architecture. This allows for your main equipment to be either owned by you or ‘hosted’ by someone else.
Other hosting solutions include;
Reseller web hosting:
Virtual Dedicated Server:
Dedicated hosting service:
Managed hosting service:
Colocation web hosting service:
Cloud Hosting:

A virtual office is a combination of off-site live communication and address services that allow users to reduce traditional office costs while maintaining business professionalism.
To efficiently and effectively manage the money an enterprise spends with suppliers. Cost savings may be a major focus for certain types of goods and services (called categories of spend) but supply assurance, quality, innovation, and a host of other considerations can be included in a category strategy. The organised management of enterprise spend by the procurement function has been shown to add significant value to business operations and the bottom-line.
Enabling services to be deployed to the users as and when they need them. This is independent of their network connections, meaning your employees have access to the services they need to work effectively and productively.
